HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A newly fired employee from Knight Transportation's Katy, Texas-based service center returned to the Franz Road office Wednesday, fatally shooting a co-worker and wounding another before turning the gun on himself.
Reports from Texas media are shedding some light on the incident:
"He said something about 'you ruined my life,' then fired a round through the building, then started shooting," Sheriff Ron Hickman with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said during a news conference Wednesday. "Upon entering the facility we found that one employee had been shot and killed, another injured, and ultimately the suspect took his own life a short distance away in the same facility,” Hickman said.
In a statement, Knight Transportation said the event has caused "deep sadness" and the company has "suspended all work at our Katy facility pending completion of the investigation.”
The victims' names have not yet been released.
