BEAVERTON, Ore. — More loads were offered for all equipment types and reefer rates began to climb in the week of April 24-30, DAT Solutions reported May 4.
Spot market loads increased 8.8 percent from the previous week and April loads were up 0.2 percent from March. However, April loads dropped 28 percent from the same period in 2015.

Reefer loads jumped 22 percent for the week, but decreased 10 percent for the month and 54 percent year-over-year. Reefer rates rose 0.6 percent from the previous week and the same percentage month-to-month. For the year, rates dropped 16 percent.
Van loads rose 17 percent for the week but dropped 5.9 percent for the month and 46 percent from April 2015. Van rates remained steady from week-to-week and dropped 0.7 percent month-to-month. The van rates decreased 19 percent year-over-year.
Flatbed loads were up 6.4 percent from week-to-week and 23 percent for April from the previous month. Flatbed loads, unlike other load categories, increased for the year, 1.2 percent for April from April 2015. Flatbed rates remained steady for the week, rose 2.2 percent month-to-month and dropped 12 percent from April 2015.
