WASHINGTON — After six consecutive weeks of increases, the average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel dropped for the week ending April 4, not much, but it did drop.
The Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy reported Monday that the average price had dropped six-tenths of one cent to $2.115.

During those six weeks, the price had risen 14.1 cents a gallon from $1.98 for the week ending February 15 to $2.121 for the week ending March 28.
The current price is 66.9 cents a gallon lower than the comparable week last year.
The decline was the result of three regions — Lower Atlantic, Midwest and Gulf Coast — dropping a total of 3.4 cents a gallon.
The only jump higher than four tenths of a penny was the Rocky Mountain region at an increase of 2.9 cents.
The EIA reported that for the week ending April 1, crude oil prices dropped $2.67 a barrel, ending the week at $36.79.
The price dropped to $35.78 at the close Monday.
