Truck drivers and fleet managers attending MATS next week are invited to attend an informative free panel discussion on new diesel engine oil specifications from a diverse group of trucking industry experts.
New diesel engine oil specs — API CK-4 and FA-4 (formerly known as PC-11) — have been approved, and new diesel engine oils meeting those specifications will be available beginning in December.
New diesel engine oil specs — API CK-4 and FA-4 (formerly known as PC-11) — have been approved, and new diesel engine oils meeting those specifications will be available beginning in December.
The panel, hosted by Shell Rotella, runs from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 31 in conference room B104 located in the south wing of the Kentucky Expo Center. The event will be moderated by Red Eye Radio host Eric Harley and veteran trucking journalist Steve Sturgess.
The panel will discuss the differences between the two oil specifications, the benefits of low viscosity oils, testing updates, and how they are expected to affect new, current and older engines when they replace current API CJ-4 engine oils.
Dan Arcy, OEM technical manager for Shell Lubricants, and Kevin Ferrick with the American Petroleum Institute will talk about how the new specifications were developed over the past few years to provide added benefits to existing engines and meet the needs of upcoming engine technology. Chris Guerrero, Global Brand manager for Shell Rotella, will provide details about the resources Shell Rotella has developed to support the trucking industry’s transition to the new CK-4 and FA-4 oil specifications.
Len Dunman, safety director for Mercer Transportation, will discuss how the company will communicate to their drivers about anticipated changes, and Jami Jones, managing editor for Land Line magazine, will provide perspective on the challenges faced by owner/operators.
With just a short time until the doors for MATS open, attendees will be provided with a lunch voucher at the end of the seminar from the Kentucky Pork Producers. There will also be a drawing at the end of the panel discussion to win a number of trucking prize packs courtesy of Shell Rotella and Red Eye Radio.
