FMCSA’S DARLING’S NOMINATION MOVES TO FULL SENATE FOR CONFIRMATION

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation approved Thursday morning T.F. Scott Darling III’s nomination to be the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Committee chairman Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) called Darling’s nomination to head the DOT’s trucking and bus regulatory agency “non-controversial.”

Darling’s nomination now moves to the full Senate to confirm before he is named the agency’s administrator.

Darling was nominated by President Obama in August and underwent Senate confirmation hearings in January. He has headed FMCSA since August 2014, following the resignation of then-Administrator Anne Ferro.

He was referred to as the acting administrator for seven months, though the title was removed due to federal law last March. He’s since continued to lead the agency, however, despite the title change.
