The engineering and research group is currently testing and evaluating a wide range of products focused on providing improved fuel efficiency to the North American commercial vehicle market during its spring event.
“Our event is growing larger and larger every year,” said Yves Provencher, director of the PIT Group. “The high level of interest in Energotest validates that the process we employ is the benchmark for precise, verified and unbiased data on the return on investment large and small carriers alike can expect from green technologies.”

According to its website, the PIT Group is an unbiased, neutral testing organization that helps manufacturers and fleet managers provide and select the best technologies to reduce costs and environmental impact.
PIT Group evaluates technologies that promote efficient energy use in the commercial transportation, municipal and transit industries across North America, the website said.
Technologies being tested at the spring Energotest include a number of aerodynamic devices. A particular focus is on the fuel efficiency, splash reduction and durability of several mud flap designs.
Also to be tested for energy and emissions efficiency during Energotest are the following:
• Adescia SUPERTECH
• DSI Canada X-1R Lean Fuel Burn
• Vanguard National Trailer Corp. AeroSail
• XP Lab Xp3 Diesel Fuel Additive
• Mudguard Technologies LLC V-Flap
• Eco-Flaps Aerodynamic Splash Guard, and
• Fleet Engineers Inc. Aeroflap.
PIT members also asked to evaluate a number of combinations of engines and automatic transmissions in a LTL scenario.
PIT Group is hosting an invitation-only VIP Day during the spring Energotest for select Canadian and U.S. operations to learn about PIT Group and its testing facilities.
In addition, a Fleet Forum is being held for the invited fleets.
U.S. fleets attending include U.S. Xpress, Schneider, C.R. England, Swift Transportation, Keller Logistics and Skyline Transportation.
“PIT Group membership benefits fleets in several ways,” Provencher said. “Members have access to test results and network with colleagues on technology issues. Fleets also have access to PIT Group engineers dedicated solely to providing accurate unbiased test results on fuel-saving technologies. Larger carriers often view us as an extension of their in-house engineering teams and smaller carriers consider us their entire engineering department.”
Utilizing a highly qualified team of engineers relying on stringent processes and state-of-the-art equipment, Energotest is a fully independent, ISO 17025 certified, road test laboratory with international credibility.
The fall 2016 edition of Energotest will take place September 13-23.
Energotest is held at the Transport Canada test track operated by PMG Technologies in Blainville, Québec.
