OOIDA MEMBER'S FARM TRACTOR ECLIPSES 100 MPH

OOIDA Life Member Jack Donohue set out to run his farm tractor at 100 mph. On June 18, the former NASCAR driver achieved that goal.
Donohue is said to have set a world record after getting his 1952 8N Ford Tractor up to 101.16 mph. The speed eclipses Donohue’s previous mark of 96.3 mph, which he set at Wilmington in 2015.

The OOIDA member has an extensive background in racing. Donohue has worked with some of NASCAR’s top drivers, including A.J. Foyt, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also did some driving, recording two top 20 finishes in five NASCAR Winston Cup races from 1974-76.
Donohue said the tractor could possibly go even faster on a longer track. According to Donohue, he needs to get a longer run with it, mentioning specifically one of the courses at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It’s two miles, and it runs in mid-August.
Donohue said if his team “can piece together enough sponsorship between now and then, we might just give it a shot.”
