Werner Enterprises, a premier transportation and logistics provider, said it has enrolled the 5,000th veteran in its Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program.
Charles Doster, from Cordele, Ga., is the 5,000th veteran to use his or her GI Bill benefits to enroll in Werner’s apprenticeship program. Currently, Doster serves in the Georgia Army National Guard as a truck driver/supply specialist. He attended Roadmaster Drivers School in Jacksonville, Fla., before joining Werner.
“Werner deeply values and appreciates all veterans and their spouses for the sacrifices they make while serving our country,” said Jim Morbach, associate vice president of student and government recruiting. “It has been our mission to create the best career opportunities available for veterans transitioning to civilian careers.”
In 2006, Werner partnered with the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs to start the industry’s first Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program.
Werner Enterprises Inc. was founded in 1956 and is a premier transportation and logistics company, with coverage throughout North America, Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and Australia.
